What to expect
When you visit Calvary Shreveport, you can expect a friendly welcoming environment and a message rooted firmly in the Bible.
Your Kids
We want to make sure your child is cared for in a safe and loving environment. That begins with preschool and children check-in stations found near the south end of our campus. There are greeters stationed around the campus to help you find the way to get your kids checked in. We use a computer check-in that enables us to provide security tags to parents when you dropped your kids off so that we can ensure their safety.
Worship
Each Sunday we have a blended worship service at 8:30 a.m. and a progressive worship service at 10:50 a.m. Our early service blends familiar worship songs, both traditional and contemporary. Our choir is featured as well as soloists and special groups. Our late service includes progressive music driven by a band and vocal team. Lights, video, and other production elements are incorporated to make for a dynamic worship experience. The 10:50 service lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes.
Attire
Dress comfortably. While some people dress up, most wear casual and comfortable clothes. Don't worry about what you wear, just come experience the casual, friendly atmosphere.
Offering
Each week there is a time to worship God through the giving of tithes and offerings. As a guest, please do not feel any pressure to give. This is an act of worship for our members or regular attenders, allowing them to thank God for all of the great work he is doing in their lives and support the work of God through Calvary.
The Message
Every service, Pastor Rick will speak on a relevant, straightforward topic that is based on Scripture and is designed to be helpful in developing a growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and provide a strong biblical foundation for your life.

History of Calvary
A Journey in Faith
Calvary Baptist Church was founded in 1926, a small community church located in the Cedar Grove area of Shreveport. Through the early decades of its history, Calvary grew gradually, appealing primarily to people living in surrounding neighborhoods. But in 1977, church leaders took a risk in their journey in faith, a risk that would set a tone for the future and define driving forces that motivate the church still today.
Sparked by a Bold Vision
Inspired by God to think outside the box, church leaders felt moved in 1977 to purchase 80 acres in what was then an isolated area several miles outside Shreveport, down a quiet two-lane road. It was a bold, risk-filled move; many church members wondered where it would lead. But because of the decision, Calvary has had the ability, for close to three decades, to expand and help ever-increasing numbers of people throughout greater Shreveport connect to Christ.
Looking Beyond Church Walls
Bold outreach has become a cornerstone of Calvary Baptist. Despite what seemed to be a healthy public school system, the church launched Calvary Academy School even before its relocation in an effort to bring Christ to more Shreveport children. A vital outreach tool, the academy is the fastest growing private school in the state.
To reach even younger children and their working parents, Calvary began its daycare program in 1968, almost 15 years before the term “day care” appeared in a dictionary. Calvary Daycare has grown to one of the largest programs in the state, with more than 100 children waiting to get in. In another visionary move, we opened the Cedar Hill Retirement Center in 1978. It provides independent living, and many helpful services, to more than 150 local seniors.
The church has developed a dynamic Family Life Center and attractive recreational fields to draw families and individuals from miles away. In essence, Calvary has felt called to press onward and upward throughout its history. In a world that changes minute by minute, leadership and members alike have—in every instance—embraced a willingness to respond to God’s call to reach out to troubled individuals and families in the surrounding community, and beyond.
