5-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide
Created for Communion: Walking with God in Prayer and Presence
Created for Communion: Walking with God in Prayer and Presence
Day 1: Made in His Image Reading: Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 2:7
Devotional:
Before you were given a task, you were given an identity. God did not first create you to work for Him -- He created you in His own image and breathed His very life into you. That breath was not merely biological. It was relational. It was God imprinting Himself onto humanity so that communion between Creator and creation would be natural, not forced. Every breath you draw today is a reminder that you are dependent on Him for life itself. You did not earn your existence, and you cannot sustain it apart from Him. Rest in that truth today. You were made to reflect His glory before you were ever asked to do anything for His kingdom.
Reflection:
When you consider that God personally breathed life into mankind, how does that change the way you view your relationship with Him? Do you approach Him as a distant authority or as the one in whom your very life is held?
Practical Application:
Before your feet hit the floor tomorrow morning, take three slow, deliberate breaths. With each one, acknowledge that God is the giver and sustainer of your life. Let that awareness shape the first words you speak to Him each day this week.
- Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.” So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female. Genesis 1:26-27
- Then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being. Genesis 2:7
